| Up close, you see that he is not a natural bender and at 6'7 he struggles to stay low. He often times loses the leverage battle and because he does not have a solid power base, he doesn't get any push off the ball. At the major college level, not playing with proper pad level will lead tackles for loss and tackles for no gain. Spurgeon does not lack strength however, it is harder to teach pad level than it is to hit the weight room. |
