Biography:
Most Tide fans can name four of the five men who were new starters in the offensive line last year. The least known, but possibly the best, is Marico. After being redshirted in 1998, he saw limited duty in 1999, including starting two games. However, he was used almost not at all in 2000, only 12 snaps. When the new staff took over, Marico took over a starting position. He started every game last year and graded 100 per cent in six of them. He had 118 knock-down blocks in 701 snaps: 19 knock-downs against Auburn, 18 vs. South Carolina, 13 vs. Mississippi State, and 10 each vs. UCLA, Ole Miss and LSU. He set the offensive line record in the bench press with a lift of 500 pounds.
