Biography:
Alabama's leading back this year in terms of all-purpose yards, Williams is a threat running the football, catching it and returning kicks. A transfer from Texas Tech, He won the “Johnny Musso Most Improved Offensive Back Award” this spring and was runner-up to Ahmaad Galloway for the Dixie Howell Award, given to the top player in the A-Day Game, as he rushed for 95 yards on only eight carries including a 31-yard touchdown burst. He also had a 10-yard pass reception. He is playing the new “A-Back” position. At Texas Tech he set a freshman record in 1999 with 230 yards on 21 carries against Colorado. Although splitting time at tailback, he managed 604 rushing yards (5.9 per carry), 54 receiving and led the team with seven rushing touchdowns. When Texas Tech changed to a passing offense, he elected to transfer. He sat out last season and is eligible this year.
