Had huge senior prep season, which he capped off with a mythic performance in the state Division III championship game. He scored 37 points and set a state-finals record with seven 3-pointers in his team's 72-55 win over Sacramento.
“Klay's one of the best pure shooters I've had in my 16 years at Santa Margarita, and we've had some good ones,” says Santa Margarita coach Jerry DeBusk.
Thompson finished 2007-08 with 775 points (21 per game) 160 rebounds (4.3 per game) 110 assists (3.1 per game). His team finished 29-5.
A versatile, highly skilled wing with good stroke and feel for the game. Fairly long and athletic. May play the two or three at the next level. His dad is former Blazers and Lakers standout Mychal Thompson, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1978 NBA draft. |
