| Shanahan has a great frame and his height and leaping ability make him a very good target in jump ball situations and in the red zone. He is more of a possession receiver, not possessing great speed, however he does have good quickness for a player of his size and can make things happen after the catch. He looks to have solid hands, a good amount of athleticism and with his size is a downfield threat. One thing to work on is route running. |

| As a senior, Shanahan caught 37 passes for 731 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was named to the "Fabulous 22" team by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
As a junior, Shanahan was named first team All-Conference by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and was a member of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Terrific Ten team.
Had 36 receptions for nearly 700 yards and eight scores as a junior
