Located in the Tennessee Valley, the town of Rossville, Ga., was named after Cherokee Indian Chief John Ross. Rossville is considered a part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Chief Ross was quoted as stating that "Chattanooga" was Cherokee for "The Big Catch" because of the fishing on the Tennessee river.
