Recruiting services today contribute to the euphoria of fans, alumni, and coaches when a highly-rated athlete agrees to attend their university. In spring, 1986, it is not known how Alabama basketball coaches felt, but it is safe to say that fans and alumni were not greatly excited about the Tide signing a lanky, 6-6 forward from Athens, Alabama. But Keith Askins proved to be quite a catch.
