VIDEO: McCarron Talks Touchdown

Alabama football fans got their first look at sophomore quarterback A.J. McCarron Saturday night in Bama's 48-3 win over San Jose State.
A.J. McCarron
completed 9 of 15 pass attempts for 116 yards, including that highlight real reception by
Julio Jones
on McCarron's first drive.
“It was a call we have – two high safeties – if we see two high safeties we can glance at Julio on the post he has right there," McCarron said. "I saw him give the outside nod and as soon as he gave the outside nod the boundary safety went with him and I just let it rip, trying to make a play."

Tide head coach
Nick Saban
had generally high praise for the sophomore's first outing.
"He's got to learn how to sit in the pocket, and he floats around into the rush too much, but he has a great arm and is very accurate," Saban said. "He managed the game well. He was going to play in the second quarter no matter what the score was."
McCarron said his first series as a member of the Crimson Tide was something he'd been waiting a lifetime for.
“It’s amazing. I’ve been waiting for that, that one game, since I was four. Just to get in, and coach giving me the opportunity to get in with the ones and try to make something happen was unreal. Words just can explain it.
"That’s pretty cool, going two for two right there, both of them to Julio who is one of my good friends," he said. "We’ve been around each other since high school a lot."
“It’s unreal,” McCarron said. “Me and Julio worked a bunch in the off season every day after seven on seven we’d at least get 50 balls from each other on different things: back shoulder, high ball, just trying to get the feel for each other in case, just like tonight, we get the opportunity came and I got my chance.”
Watch the video:
“Words can’t explain what I’m feeling now," McCarron said. "I know I’m Greg’s backup and I’m going to support him and the rest of the offense on the sidelines and when I get my opportunity I’m going to try to make the best of it.”
