The 6' 3", 300 pound defensive tackle out of Mississippi, who many consider the top Magnolia prospect in the '12 class, was informed by the Alabama head coach Friday night that he had a full scholarship offer. Will this effect his Ole Miss commitment? To learn more, read below.

"I got an offer today from the #1 team in the country," added an excited Quay Evans.

Quay visited Alabama recently for one of their Jr Days and came away impressed.

"I liked the guy in their weight room. I liked his character and personality. He made you want to be a Crimson Tide. Coach Saban is very intelligent, and they have a wonderful program."

The 2nd Team All-State selection, for all classifications as only a sophomore, heard back from Saban a week after he visited the Alabama campus.

"We spoke in his office during Jr Day before I came back home. He told me that I would be hearing back from him because he was really/really impressed with my tape. He called back this morning and told my coach that I had a full scholarship offer and then he spoke to me."

Quay collected 104 tackles and 14 sacks this past year and was named the 2009 Class 3A Defensive Player of the Year. He committed to Ole Miss shortly after the season and has been a vocal commit for the Rebels ever since. Does Evans' latest offer change his commitment status?

"I am excited about Alabama recruiting me now. I am staying committed to Ole Miss, but there is always the possibility I could end up at another school. I am not shutting the door on Alabama or anybody else, but I am still committed to Ole Miss."

Quay expands on the subject.

"I had always hoped that Alabama would offer me, and they did, so it is an exciting time for me. I am still committed to Ole Miss, but at the same time, I am still going to look around. Ole Miss was the first school to recruit me and offer me. I fell in love with their staff and program, and it is going to take a lot to get me to change my mind. But I am not going to lie, I am kind of excited about the Alabama offer. I am excited about them recruiting me now."

Evans will be back on the Ole Miss and Alabama campuses again in the near future?

"I am going to Ole Miss' Jr Day on March 27th, and I am going to Alabama's 4-Day camp on May 22nd. After that camp, I go to Ole Miss for their OL/DL camp on June 5th. Southern Miss wants me to come down there for a 1 Day camp too, and I am thinking about going to that one as well."
