Spencer Region talks Tide offer

Spencer Region, offensive tackle from Cullman, Ala., is one of the top players in the state for the Class of 2011. He has received more than a handful of scholarship offers including one from Alabama during a Junior Day trip. Region updated the latest..

"I was offered by Alabama today," said Spencer Region. "Coach Saban brought me and my family in his office. He sat us down and said he wants me to play for him.

"We are out celebrating at Dreamland right now. I am very excited. It felt really good to get the offer. This is the offer I have wanted. I have worked my butt off my whole life for this. It's a great feeling, and I was so happy to have my family there with me."

Region has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Troy and UAB. Georgia and Florida State could offer next week. Alabama has leaped to the top spot.

"Alabama is my leader right now," he said "I am still going to take a business like approach about this though. I will sit down with my parents tomorrow to decide if it's the right fit and if I will go ahead and decide early.

"The biggest thing I like about Alabama is the facilities. I love Bryant Hall. I can kill three birds with one stone. I can eat there, sleep there and study there. I am in walking distance to all my classes. That is just one of the great things about Alabama."

The Scout.com 300 watch list prospect spoke more about his visit to the Capstone.

"I talked to Barrett Jones while I was there," Region said. "I talked to him for a good bit. I also spoke to Justin Britt. Overall it was a very good visit. We toured the campus, saw the stadium, ate and then finished up with our position coaches.

"I really liked coach Cochran. He is probably my favorite coach. I loved every minute I spent with the coaches. Coach Pendry said he liked me a lot. He said I was a big lineman they can move around. I am physical and can put people in the dirt."
