Scoring more than a point-a-minute in a basketball game will get you noticed. That's what JaMychal Green did last week against Mercer, and this week he was recognized by the Southeastern Conference as the Player of the Week.

JaMychal Green, a sophomore forward from Montgomery, earned the honor after scoring a career-high 27 points in 26 minutes in Alabama’s 90-71 win over Mercer last Wednesday.

That's not all Green did. He added 13 rebounds in the win for his third double-double of the season and 10th of his career. His career-best performance was fueled by a nearly perfect first half that saw him finish 7-of-7 and single-handedly outscore Mercer 8-0 in the first 6:50 of the game. Of his 13 rebounds, seven were offensive, leading to nine second-chance points for the Tide. His 27 points also ties for the 10th most an SEC student-athlete has scored this season.

Green and his teammates resume play on Wednesday when the Crimson Tide hosts Tennessee State at 7:30 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
