Saban Comments On Meyer Situation

The college football world was shocked Saturday afternoon with the announcement that Florida Coach Urban Meyer, who has won two national championships in his five years with the Gators, will resign for health reasons following the Sugar Bowl.



Following Alabama's win over Florida in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game, there was a report that Gators Coach Urban Meyer had been hospitalized for what was described as dehydration.

Later there were reports of a longtime health situation for meyer involving a cuyst on his brain. Saturday reports were that Meyer may have heart problems.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban had best wishes for Meyer.

Saban said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Urban and his family at this time. He is a first class coach and the success he's had is unmatched in our profession, especially over the last five years at Florida.

"We hope he is able to regain his health and have the opportunity to coach again in the future. Urban Meyer is a great person as well as a great coach, and the game of college football is better with him as a part of it."
