Anyone paying attention to Alabama football games would notice a regular in pre-game and post-game situations. Mike Johnson is almost always one of the Crimson Tide captains for Bama. And when Alabama coaches announce their players of the week, he’s almost always one of the offensive award winners.

Following Alabama’s 31-3 win over Mississippi State in Starkville Saturday, the Southeastern Conference selected Crimson Tide senior offensive guard Mike Johnson as the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Johnson, a 6-5, 303-pound left guard from Pensacola, Fla., was selected for having the top grade among Bama offensive linemen. He did not allow a sack, pressure, or get called for any penalties against the Bulldogs.

Alabama’s offense gained 444 yards. In 58 offensive plays, Bama had just five lost rushing yards.

The SEC also gave mention to Crimson Tide sophomore running back Mark Ingram, who rushed for 149 carries on 19 carries and two touchdowns behind that offensive line led by Johnson; and junior linebacker Rolando McClain, who had 11 tackles, three for losses including a sack.
