Alabama may be getting some front line players back on offense this week as the Tide prepares for its Southeastern Conference opener against Arkansas.
Alabama
Coach
Nick Saban
said Monday that Crimson Tide wide receiver
Julio Jones
and Bama tailback
Roy Upchurch
, both of whom sat out last Saturday's game, could be ready to play against
Arkansas
this week.
Alabama opens Southeastern Conference play against the Razorbacks Saturday with kickoff from Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CDT. CBS will televise the game.
Alabama is 3-0 and ranked third in the nation. Arkansas is 1-1 and coming off a thrilling game, a 52-41 loss at the hands of
Georgia
in Fayetteville.
The Crimson Tide defeated
North Texas
, 53-7, last week without the services of Jones and Upchurch. Both had been injured early in the game against
Florida International
the previous week.
Jones suffered a bruised knee. He was dressed and on the sidelines for the North Texas game, but did not play. Upchurch suffered a high ankle sprain against Florida International and was not dressed for the North Texas game.
Saban said both would practice Monday and though they are listed as "day-to-day" there is the expectation they will be able to play against Arkansas.
Tailback
Demetrius Goode
suffered a hyperextended knee against North Texas on his only play of the game. Although he is expected to be out "a day or two," Saban said there was a possibility he would return against Arkansas.
