Alabama Volleyball Head Coach Judy Green announced the addition of Kevin Dunn to her staff on Friday where he will serve as a volunteer assistant coach. Dunn joins the Crimson Tide after spending the past season as a graduate assistant at Southern Arkansas University.
“I have been looking all spring and summer for the right person to fill this role on our team, and after working with Kevin this summer I feel he was the right person,” said
Alabama
Coach Judy Green. “His role is going to be running drills and challenging our team in practice daily.”
While at Southern Arkansas, Dunn was responsible for practice planning, recruiting and offseason conditioning. He helped lead the Lady Muleriders to an 11-win season and had two All-Gulf South Conference West Division team selections.
Before joining the Southern Arkansas staff, Dunn served as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach at Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Mo. While at Lindenwood, he planned and executed conditioning routines and teambuilding exercises. During the 2007 season, Dunn helped lead the Lions to a fifth place NAIA national ranking.
Dunn was also a member of the Lions men’s volleyball program where he guided Lindenwood to national rankings from 2003-07 and the NAIA National Championship Finals in 2006. In addition, he was an Academic All-Conference award winner from 2004-07.
Dunn received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history and business administration from Lindenwood in 2008. He is expected to receive his master’s degree in kinesiology from Southern Arkansas this month.
“Kevin is an accomplished player who has a strong desire to coach at the Division I level,” added Green. More importantly, he has the desire to help our 2009 team reach its potential. I think our players will be very excited to see him every day in the gym.”
