University of Alabama Baseball Coach Jim Wells announced today that Judd Golsan has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the Crimson Tide, beginning with the 2010 season.
Judd Golsan
(5-11, 180) is a senior outfielder at Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham. He is a two-year starter for Coach Lee Gann.
“Judd is an excellent player and we are glad that he has joined the
Alabama
baseball program,” Wells said. “This will give us a solid outfield next season, along with (current outfielder Taylor) Dugas and the players we signed in the fall. This will be a good group of outfielders.”
Golsan is hitting .397 (23-for-59) in 20 games for the Spartans this season. He has added five doubles, two triples, one home run and 12 RBI. Golsan has also scored 20 runs and swiped 14 bases.
Last year, he hit .369 (38-for-103) with seven doubles, one triple and 17 RBI. He added a 24 runs and 11 stolen bases, while compiling a .445 on-base percentage. He helped MBHS to a 19-11 overall and a berth in the Class 6A state playoffs.
Golsan was selected to play in the 2009 Alabama High School Athletic Association North-South All-Star Game and the 2009 Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Showcase.
In addition, Golsan was a standout football player, earning honorable mention all-state honors following his senior season. He passed for 1,552 yards and 15 touchdowns and added 983 rushing yards leading the Spartans to 9-1 regular season record and the Class 6A state playoffs in 2008. In a 49-34 win over Shades Valley, he rushed for 202 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 54 and 53 yards. He passed for 212 yards and two scores of 50 and eight yards.
