In the grand scheme of things, football games may not be so important. Considering how much the outcome of games means to so many, though, even as we give thanks for all we have, we are hoping for more.
This year
Alabama
hosts
Auburn
just two days after Thanksgiving. Both sides have legitimate motivation. For the Crimson Tide, a win is another step towards a possible national championship. For the Tigers, it is an opportunity to salvage a season gone bad and to make Bama miserable.
Alabama and Auburn will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CST Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. CBS will televise the game. will be Alabama’s ninth televised game of the season and eighth national telecast.
Bama is 11-0 and ranked first in the nation. The Crimson Tide is 7-0 in Southeastern Conference games and clinched the SEC Western Division title a few weeks ago. Bama will play
Florida
in the GeorgiaDome in Atlanta on Dec. 6 for the SEC Championship and a possible chance at the national championship game.
Auburn, predicted to be a top ten team, is at 5-6. The Tigers were predicted to win the SEC Western Division. In SEC games Auburn is 2-5.
Following Wednesday’s practice, Alabama Coach
Nick Saban
offered his holiday wishes to all the Crimson Tide fans and supporters on the eve of Thanksgiving Day.
“I would like to say this to everyone,” Saban said. “This is a good time of the year and as coaches you don’t always get to enjoy it and as players they don’t get to enjoy as much as we would like for them too. It is a time to give thanks and be thankful and appreciative of all that we have and all the gifts that we have and all the relationships that we have. I’d certainly like to wish all of our supporters and fans and the media that covers our team, who invests a lot of time in giving them the exposure they certainly deserve, to have a great Thanksgiving.”
Those of us at BamaMag.com, ‘BAMA Magazine and Scout Media would like to join in wishing you all – friend and foe – a Happy Thanksgiving.
