Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson has been named Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week for his play in leading the Crimson Tide to a 41-20 win over Georgia in Athens last Saturday night.

John Parker Wilson, a senior quarterback from Hoover, completed 13 of 16 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown in Alabama’s 41-30 win over Georgia in Athens. Alabama had been ranked eighth and Georgia third going into the game.

Wilson, 6-2, 211, completed his first seven passes of the game and was 10-of-11 for 139 yards and a TD in the first half while the Tide built a 31-0 halftime lead. He did not suffer an interception in the game.

Ten of his 13 completions went for first downs and he ran for another.

Wilson broke the Alabama career passing yardage record in the contest and now has 6,398 yards.

Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith was cited by the SEC as among the other fine performances. Smith was Bama's highest-grading offensive lineman, not allowing a sack or having a penalty.
