University of Alabama left fielder Brandon May has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after leading the Crimson Tide to a crucial road series win at Arkansas over the weekend, the SEC Office announced today.

Against Arkansas, Alabama sophomore Brandon May hit .500 (7 for 14) with six runs scored, five extra-base hits and five RBI. He added two hits and scored three runs in UA’s 11-7 series-opening win at Arkansas. May recorded his first career multi-homer game in the Tide’ 11-6 win on Saturday that clinched Alabama’s first road series win of the year. He finished the game going 3 for 5 with three runs scored, three extra-base hits and four RBI. He was 2 for 4 with an RBI double in Sunday’s finale.

In four games last week, May hit .450 (9 for 20) with three home runs and seven RBI, leading the Tide to a 3-1 road record. He also tallied a 1.050 slugging percentage and .476 on-base mark during the week. He went 2 for 6 with two runs scored, one home run and two RBI in the Tide’s 10-6 win at Samford. May’s two-run home run in the third inning ignited the Crimson Tide offense and brought the team back from a four-run deficit en route to the win.

For the season, May is hitting .361 (70 for 194) with eight home runs and 41 RBI in 50 games. He is the only Alabama player to start and play in all 50 games this season. He leads the Crimson Tide in runs scored (50), doubles (15) and on-base percentage (.459).
