The Alabama softball team plays host to in-state foe UAB at the Alabama Softball Complex Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Crimson Tide returns home after a three-game conference sweep of Kentucky in Lexington over the weekend.
The Tide of Coach Patrick Murphy will be looking to complete the season sweep of
UAB
after dismantling the Blazers, 10-1, in Birmingham on March 6.
Alabama
remains ranked No. 2 in the USA Today/NFCA rankings and No. 3 by ESPN.com/Softball USA.
The UAB Blazers enter Tuesday’s game with a 17-18 overall record and a 4-5 mark in Conference USA action. The Blazers are fresh off of a three-game Conference USA sweep of
Memphis
at George Ward Park in Birmingham. UAB scored 19 runs in the series with the Tigers, the second largest total in a three-game series in program history. UAB banged out 26 hits over the three games and collected a season-high 12 hits in their 9-1 victory in the opening game of a doubleheader on March 22.
Alabama owns a 4-0 all-time record against UAB, including a 10-1 win earlier this season at George Ward Park in Birmingham. Prior to this season, UA had not faced the Blazers since February 6, 2005, at the Bama Bash! in Tuscaloosa where the Tide posted a 2-1 win. Alabama also defeated UAB by an 8-0 count earlier in that 2006 tournament. The first meeting in softball between UA and UAB took place on February 23, 2000, a 7-1 Alabama victory in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama hosts
Ole Miss
in a three-game SEC series, beginning with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, March 29. The final game is slated for Sunday, March 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the UA Softball Complex. The Crimson Tide own a 36-2 edge in the all-time series with the Rebels, including a three-game sweep in Oxford last season as UA outscored Ole Miss, 28-4.
