Spring Practice Schedule Updated

Alabama has released its official practice schedule for spring football practice and the primary dates as previously announced were unchanged. Practice will begin March 13 and end April 14 with the A-Day Game the 14th of 15 practices on April 12.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban will conduct his second spring practice as he begins molding a team for the 2008 season. Players have been in off-season work since mid-February.

Practice will begin the day after pro football scouts have a look at upcoming seniors in workouts on March 12.

The break in practice is for The University's spring break. Bama's original plan was to begin spring drills after spring break and have the A-Day Game a week later than currently scheduled. The City of Tuscaloosa attracted a national triathlon competition for April 19. Because there would have been unsurmountable traffic problems with the triathlon and A-Day on the same day, Coach Saban agreed to move the Crimson-White Game up a week.

That necessitated a start change in the 15 allowed practices and also prevented being able to get all practices completed with the spring game.

Last year's A-Day Game attracted a national record crowd of over 92,000 to Bryant-Denny Stadium. This year's game will kick off at 2 p.m. CDT on Saturday, April 12.

Alabama will have its annual coaching clinic, featuring New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick, April 3-5.

With the exception of the A-Day Game, practices are ordinarily closed to the public.
