Wesley Neighbors Talks Official Visit

Alabama commitment Wesley Neighbors is certainly familiar with the University of Alabama, with his grandfather (Billy Neighbors) playing for legendary Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant on the 1961 National Championship team, and his father playing for Coach Ray Perkins in the 1980s.

Wesley Neighbors got to see the Alabama program from a different perspective than he did while growing up in an Alabama family, and as a fan attending Alabama sporting events. He tells ScoutSouth.com about his visit this weekend.

"It was great," Wesley Neighbors said from his home in Huntsville, (Ala). "I don't know how anyone couldn't have a good time this weekend. Everyone I was around had a great time."

"I met some of the guys that were being recruited, and some of the guys that were committed. I think they were all bigger than me," The 6-1, 205-pound Huntsville High safety stated.

"I met Marcel and Demerius Dareus while I was there. Those guys are a lot of fun to hang out with. They're huge too. Marcel looks like he is already a college football player."

"I also got to hang out with Morgan Ogilvie, Brad Smelley, Damien Square and Destin Hood. We had fun, and everything was great."

"The facilities are awesome, and they're still working on them. I can't imagine anything any better. I heard speculation that they were going to expand the South end zone, and they're trying to increase the number of students attending the University. It was all very nice."

While Neighbors was awe struck with the tour of all the facilities and future plans he said one part of the trip stood out the most.

"Coach Saban's home was great. It was very nice. We went over there and rode four wheelers and hung out. We got to know Coach Saban on more of a personal basis, and he's a great guy. I think he's going to do great at Alabama," Neighbors said.

"My player host was Jennings Hester, and he was a good guy. I saw a picture of him last year when he came in, and he has gotten huge. He is buff and looks real good."

"He told me he had some problems with his hamstrings this season, but he had gotten all that worked out. He plans to make an impression this spring."

Neighbors also mentioned a couple of guys who stood out above the rest, in his opinion.

"I wasn't in the group with Alonzo Lawrence, but he looked like he had been in college for two years. He is cut up and looks very impressive. Of course we got to see him in the Alabama/Mississippi All Star game, and he was impressive at corner back," Neighbors said.

"The other one was Marcel Dareus. He's just big and strong. He looks like he could play from the start. He was impressive to me, and he and his brother were just a lot of fun to be around."

"They were messing with me when we first got there. They were trying to tell me one was a senior and the other was a 9th grader, but I wouldn't go for it. I knew no one could be as big as they are and be a freshman in high school."

"I really had a great time. It was all very impressive from the facilities, to the stadium, to hanging out at Coach Saban's."

Needless to say Wesley Neighbors will sign his LOI with the Crimson Tide on National Signing Day.
