The Alabama track teams were to begin competition today at the NCAA outdoor track and field national championship in Sacramento, Calif. at the University of California-Sacramento.
The finals the men and women’s 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, 400 meter hurdles, 1,500 meter and the 1600 meter relay (4 x 400) are scheduled to take place live for the CBS broadcast. Other highlights of the meet are scheduled to be shown.
A regional broadcast is scheduled on CSTV for Friday beginning at 7:30 p.m. CDT
The Crimson Tide women’s team is represented by senior Miruna Mataoanu and junior Trish Bartholomew. Mataoanu will compete in two events the triple jump and the high jump. Bartholomew will compete in the 400 meter race.
The Bama men’s track and field team is represented by three members, sophomore Augustus Maiyo, freshman Emmanuel Bor and freshman Tyler Boswell. Maiyo will run in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Bor will run the in the 5,000 meter and Boswell will compete the high jump.
The NCAA outdoor track and field championships were to begin today at noon CDT and will conclude on Saturday at 2 p.m. CDT.
