Former Alabama basketball star Erwin Dudley has played for Turk Telekom in Turkey the past two seasons. He averaged 21.4 points per game and led his team to the 2007 EuroCup playoffs quarterfinals and shot 64.5 per cent from the field, which also led the league.
Dudley, who led the SEC in rebounding for three straight seasons, in 2001, 2002 and 2003, averaged 6.8 rebounds this season for Turk Telekom. The league’s runner-up MVP in 2006, Dudley is one of the EuroCup league’s most popular players and was one of the top vote-getters for the 2007 EuroCup All-Star game. The 2007 event was held in Lemosos, Cyprus, and Dudley was the All-Star game’s MVP after he scored 23 points to lead The Rest of the World team to a 105-95 win against Europe. Dudley scored nine of those points in the first quarter.
Among his all-star teammates was former Crimson Tide star Kennedy Winston. Winston helped lead his Greek team, Panionios, to the EuroCup quarterfinal as well, averaging 14.3 points this season.
In June Dudley will host the Camp of Champions 2007 at his high school Alma Mater, Robert C. Hatch High School in Uniontown. The free camp will be on Friday, June 15 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and on Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon. It is open to boys and girls ages 6-17.
