Alabama Grayshirt Signs

Scout.com three-star offensive lineman Patrick Crump has signed his letter of intent even though he has accepted a grayshirt offer from Alabama. Crump will delay his enrollment until 2008. The offensive lineman talks of the decision.

"The grayshirt was offered by the past staff," said Patrick Crump from Hoover, (Ala.). "The new coaching staff decided to keep it the same. I think it's a good thing because of my age. I am only 17 years old."

"I knew that Alabama was the right fit. I figured out that that's the place I wanted to go."

The 6-3, 285-pound offensive lineman knows his strengths and what he hopes to improve before the spring in 2008.

"I think I play hard. I am quick and fast. I really want to improve my strength," he said.

Crump committed to the previous Alabama coaching staff, but said, "I really like the new staff. It's a change because I was recruited by the former coaches. I like the coaches they brought in, and I respect them. I think they are going to be good."

Crump was named All-State and All-Metro.

Crump sports a 2.9 GPA and scored a 19 on the ACT.
