Kerry Murphy Signs with the Tide
"I decided to stay at home," said Kerry Murphy from Hoover, (Ala.). "I decided I wanted to stay with some of these players that I have been playing with for so long." "We are going to win a national championship at Alabama. I really love the new coaching staff. They came from the NFL, and I think they are going to do a great job." Murphy is a monster at 6-5, 338-pounds. He has unlimited potential, but he knows it is time to get in great shape before fall camp. "I would have to say my biggest strength is my technique," Murphy said. "I think once I get back in shape, and start rolling, there is no telling what I will be able to do." "I would really like to improve my weight and strength before I get to Alabama." Hoover's defensive line coach, Chris Davis, is very high on one of his star playmakers. "Kerry is an unbelievable athlete. You can ask anyone. He amazed me with some of the stuff I have seen him do," Davis said. "He may be the best NFL prospect we have ever had here. He certainly has the size and the tools. I think he is going to do great in college." Murphy had off-season knee surgery prior to his senior season and finished the year with 49 tackles, eight tackles for loss and one sack. Murphy was also named a Parade All-American and joins another former and future teammate with the same claim, Tide starting quarterback John Parker Wilson.
