“Well, No.1 the family atmosphere is amazing," Luther Davis said from West Monroe, (Louis.). "I really believe in what coach Saban is trying to do. When they first came on the scene the day after I committed to LSU, Coach Thompson said the hardest thing for me to do is tell the LSU coaches I am going to be a part of the Crimson Tide."
"I thought he didn't know what he was talking about. After going there seeing for myself and seeing how the players interact with each other, I knew Alabama was the place for me. I know I made the best decision I could have ever made."
The U.S. Army All-American discussed what he brings to the table and what he wants to improve before moving to Tuscaloosa.
“My strengths are definitely my fist step," Davis said. "I have improved my hands. I have been using them a lot more. I am not one of those defensive lineman that just will overpower you. I have improved so well on my technique, and that has made me a top caliber player. My knowledge puts me ahead of a lot of guys as well.”
“The coaches told me I have the perfect size, but speed is a big factor especially in the SEC. I want to improve that more. I am running lateral sprints to improve my burst and acceleration. I work on it almost everyday. I need to improve my strengths. I did pretty good on my bench max today, and I am going to build off of that. I benched 225-pounds 18 times. It rounded out to be 340 or 350 pounds."
"The coaches want me to come in and play. I feel like at the rate I am going I really don't see myself red-shirting."
When asked of qualifying issues Davis replied, "It's really more about my GPA, but I am taking the ACT this Saturday. I have been taking a lot of practice tests, and I have been in the prep course. I have improved on every practice test."
"I feel extremely confident going into the test. I don't think it is going to be a problem at all. Let all the Alabama fans know that I am coming."
Davis was named 1st Team All-State, District, All-N' East LA squads for his play on the field. Final senior (11-1) stats: 68 tackles, 13 sacks, eight forced fumbles, 22 tackles of loss, four fumbled recoveries, five blocked field goal attempts and two interceptions.
