Alabama Grayshirt Gives Opinion of New Coach

Scout.com three-star offensive linemen Patrick Crump accepted a grayshirt offer to the University of Alabama back in June. Alabama had a less than stellar season and fired coach Mike Shula. The hiring of Miami Dolphins and former LSU coach Nick Saban has created a new excitment with Alabama fans. Did it have the same effect with this Tide commitment?

"It really helps a lot," Patrick Crump said from Hoover, (Ala.) "I committed before all that coaching stuff started going on. You know, I liked Shula a lot, but with Saban coming in it will do nothing but help the program."

Crump was a high school sophomore when coach Nick Saban left LSU, but the 6-3 280-pound linemen is aware of who the new coach is.

"Going by past coaching experience Saban is very good, but I haven't met him personally. I don't know what kind of guy he is or anything," Crump said.

Crump did not hesitate when asked if his decision remains solid, "Oh yeah, I am definitely still going to Alabama."
