Tide Lands Prattville Defensive Lineman

Prattville's Nick Gentry was eager to reach his college decision before his senior season, and he has given his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide. He becomes Alabama's 12th overall commitment and the third in-state commitment for the class of 2007.

"They couldn't get a better choice," Prattville Defensive Coordinator Duwan Walker said. "He's a leader on-and-off the field. He will take the bull by the horns. Alabama can expect excellence from him."

"Nick makes everyone better around him."

"He has an engine for sure. He is always wide open. He WILL make a difference on the field for them."

Gentry recorded 100 tackles, 52 for loss and 22 sacks during his junor campaign. He was named Class 6A All-State for his efforts.

The Prattville Lions finished 11-1 in 2005 and will make another run for the state championship in 2006. They will open their season with Gulf Shores September 1.
