Florida Cornerback Commits to the Tide

The Crimson Tide's verbal commit list for 2007 is filled with players from the Sunshine State. Alabama added their fourth verbal commit from Florida Monday afternoon. The Alabama coaches are making a huge splash in Florida.

"I committed to Alabama about an hour ago," said Sherod Murdock from Tampa, (Fla.). "I called coach [Dave] Ungerer and told him about my decision. He was very excited."

"I felt like Alabama was the place for me. I have been leaning towards them since last year when they offered me. I saw the campus this weekend, and I saw what all they have to offer. I went to their camp and really enjoyed myself. I had been there since Friday."

Murdock was recruited by Alabama assistant coach Dave Ungerer to join the Tide as a cornerback.

"I am currently 6-0, 165-pounds," he said. "They want me to come and play cornerback. He is a great guy. I met him last year. He is real cool."

"I got to work-out with coach [Chris] Ball. I learned a few new things this weekend. I enjoyed working out with him."

Pittsburgh was the only school outside of Alabama that made a firm offer to Murdock. A few other schools extended verbal offers but, he had his mind set on one school.

"I didn't really pick Alabama over any school," he said. "They have been my favorite since the beginning. I had received a written offer from Pittsburgh. I had verbal offers from West Virginia, Ohio State and South Carolina."

"I am going to try to take a few official visits but, right now my decision is pretty solid."
