Bama Lands Florida Standout Running Back
Taylor chose Alabama over scholarship offers from Tennessee, Pitt and West Virginia. Taylor split time in the backfield during his junior season with Scout.com four-star prospect Chris Rainey. He still managed to record 1, 217 yards and 27 touchdowns. "Jamar is your typical SEC tailback. He's big, strong, and he's got the speed to get to the corner," Taylor's assistant coach Don Talbot said. "When Jamar had a chance to visit with Coach [Chris] Ball and Coach [Mike] Shula, they really appealed to him. But the bottom line is that Alabama speaks for itself. It's a great program and he wanted to be a part of it. I know that he's really excited about his decision." Taylor was not the only Lakeland player to verbally commit Wednesday. Twin offensive lineman James and LaShawn Pouncey committed to the University of Florida. Cornerback Ahmad Black verbally committed to the Gators as well.
