Tyrone Prothro hadn't granted a media interview since the injury, but today he talked about his rehab and his reception by Alabama fans since his injury against Florida on October 1.
"Being out there hearing people holler my name and cheering for me gives me that much more motivation," he said. "It's been great for people to still remember me while I have been hurt and while I have been rehabbing."
Prothro had an infection that complicated the broken leg. On Saturday there were no predictions of when he might return. Alabama Head Coach Mike Shula has said June will be a marker for an update on Prothro's status.
"What he's meant for me, what he's meant for this football team and for this university has been great and the fans showed that today," Shula said. "He's out of the cast in that boot, now. His rehab's going better."
Prothro said his rehabilitation is "going real well."
"I'm working on my ankle and getting it better where I can take a full step and I have been doing pool work, walking in the pool," he said."
