Alabama's new head strength and conditioning coach Rocky Colburn was on campus in Tuscaloosa Thursday, athletic department officials said. In October, reported Kent Johnston's planned departure from the Alabama staff and the Atlanta Journal Constitution said Thursday that Colburn resigned from the Atlanta Falcons staff to take over at Alabama.

Colburn lettered at Alabama from 1982-84, and had been with the Falcons as assistant strength coach under Dan Reeves. He was the assistant strength coach to Al Miller, a 20-year veteran of the NFL and another former Crimson Tide strength coach.
