BOBCATS RE-SIGN GERALD WALLACE With the opening of training camp one week away, the Bobcats have finalized their roster heading to Wilmington with the re-signing of forward Gerald Wallace.

"We are happy that Gerald will continue his career and development with the Charlotte Bobcats. He is a quality young man and has considerable upside," Bobcats General Manager & Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "As an organization, we are happy to come to a resolution on his value and to sign him to a multi-year contract. We look forward to continuing the progress we started last season, and Gerald is an intricate part of that."

Wallace averaged 11.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks in 30.7 minutes last season. He ranked ninth in the NBA in steals and 31st in blocks. He reached double-figure scoring 39 times, including seven 20-plus point games, and 10 double-figure rebounding games.

The 6-7, 215-pound forward appeared in 70 games with 68 starts. He scored a career-high 28 points at Utah on February 1, 2005 and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds at New York on December 26, 2004 and again on April 16, 2005 against New York.

Wallace was drafted by Sacramento with the 25th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft and spent three seasons with Kings. He was chosen by the Bobcats in the Charlotte Expansion Selection on June 22, 2004
