Alexander Dazzles at Scout.com Combine

Posted May 6, 2005

Earl Alexander, from Central Phenix City, was one of the best performers at the Scout.com combine in Auburn. Alexander ran one of the fastest forty times of the day with a 4.55. He performed extremely well with the receivers in the one-on-one drills. Several schools across the southeast are after this athletic play-maker.

"I loved the Scout.com combine this weekend. I thought it went really good. I was able to work out with some of the best players in the south," Earl Alexander said.

Alexander admits he has been working on his forty time, and was pleased when he heard his time.

"I think I performed very well. My forty time really excited me, I had been working on my starts for a while. When I was told I ran a 4.55, I just got excited. I thought the entire day went great. I had a lot of fun."

Alexander has the athletic ability to play several positions, but he prefers to stay behind center. Three offers are currently in hand, and those three schools want him to stay under center as well.

"A lot of people talk about me playing other positions, but I want to stay at quarterback. Clemson, Alabama, and Louisville have all offered me, and they want me to play quarterback. Those are the only offers I know of right now. I have a whole heap of letters, probably over thirty, that I have not opened yet. There may be a few more offers, but I don‚t know yet," he said.

The spring evaluation period is in full swing, and the college coaches are making stops in Phenix City.

"Auburn came by the school Tuesday. Coaches from Clemson, Southern Miss, and Alabama all came by the school last week. Clemson and Louisville have been the only schools to call me so far."

Alabama is the only in-state school to offer the multi-talented athlete, and Alexander is not hesitant to claim his top two.

"I would say my favorites are Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, Tennessee, and LSU. Alabama and Auburn are higher than the other three schools because they are the in-state schools. They both have the upper edge right now," said Alexander.
