Cole Harvey, 6-2, 250, from Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, played in the CaliFlorida All-star game in Miami. Harvey was not the biggest guy on the field, but one of the toughest. This weekend, Harvey's teammate, Fred Rouse, was scheduled for an official to Alabama.
"Fred (Rouse) and I are both scheduled to take an official visit to
Alabama
, this weekend. We might have to change it to next weekend, but both of us are coming. I talked to him yesterday after the game. He said he is still going with me on the visit to Alabama. I haven't heard anything about him going anywhere else. He would have told me if he was not going to Alabama (official visit)," said
Cole Harvey
.
Harvey has been trying to recruit
Fred Rouse
, the number one prospect in the country, for Alabama. Harvey believes Alabama sells itself.
"I have talked to him about Alabama, but I don't try to pressure him at all. When we both came up to the
Ole Miss
game, Alabama spoke for itself. He was just blown away."
This past weekend, Harvey had the honor to play with some of the top players in the country in the annual CaliFlorida game at the Orange Bowl.
"It was a lot of fun. It was very different. There were a lot of studs on both sides of the football. It was a good game. We were able to win by two points."
Harvey was able to play with some of his future teammates.
"I talked to
Michael Johnson
a lot. He played tackle. He was a great player. I was also able to meet
Clarence Ward
. He is real good. He really proved a lot out there. He the real deal."
There are several reasons why Harvey verbally committed to the Crimson Tide.
"I went in the summer for a visit, and I just fell in love. I loved the campus, and the town is awesome. The coaching staff is great. I loved the way Coach Shula was, and I really like Coach Connelly. Coach Connelly is real cool. He was my recruiting coach, and he will be my position coach. We saw eye to eye on a lot of things. A lot of other schools backed off of me because of my size, but Alabama wanted me," said Harvey.
This fall, Harvey attended several Alabama games and cannot wait to play at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
"I went to the Ole Miss game with Fred (Rouse) and
Kerry Bonds
. Kerry (Bonds) and I also went to the
Auburn
game. I love the atmosphere. I have been able to get a little taste of that down here, because we have played in some really big games. It's a lot bigger and more exciting at Alabama. I just can't wait."
Though he lacks the size for a prototypical offensive lineman in the SEC, Harvey knows what he will bring to the Crimson Tide.
"I am really not sure which position I am going to play. The coaches said we would talk about that during my visit. I know I am undersized, but the best part of me is my toughness. I never give up on a play, and I will always fight. I am not doing anything now, except working out. I train everyday."
Harvey currently maintains a 3.2 GPA and has a qualifying ACT and SAT score.
