Northwest Mississippi Community College defensive lineman Chris Turner (6-3.5, 287, 4.8) took his official visit to Alabama this weekend. Originally signed by Florida State, Turner has the speed to handle defensive end and the size to play inside. "Things are going very well," Turner said about his visit.
Madison, Alabama's David Brown (6-3, 255, 4.8) has taken numerous unofficial visits to his in-state school. He's said that he wants to take all his official visits during December and hopefully get his decision out of the way before New Years. Rated by all recruiting pundits as one of the top two or three defensive line prospects in the state, Brown has been a key Tide target throughout the recruiting process. "Things are going fairly well," Brown said. "I'm seeing everything I need to see." Brown said he has offers from more than 15 major college programs, but Alabama and Notre Dame probably still top his list. "It'll be a tough choice," Brown said. "Both are great programs." Brown went on to add that when he first started playing football as a child, he never dreamed that one day all these schools would be after his services.
A defensive end turned middle linebacker, Terrence Smith (6-3.5, 237, 4.55) was a dominant tackler for Northwest Mississippi CC this past season. He's already visited Texas Tech and is also set to visit Texas A&M. "I really like Alabama," Smith said of his visit to Tuscaloosa. "I like it here more than at Texas Tech. This is my first time to experience the Alabama atmosphere."
One of the top safety prospects in the nation, Kyle Jackson (6-1, 176, 4.61) is also being courted by home-state schools Florida and Florida State and Tennessee and Georgia Tech. The Gators are said to lead at this point, but Jackson has to be intrigued by the possibility of early playing time at Alabama. TheInsiders.com rate Jackson a four-star prospect and the third-best high school safety in the nation.
Lavarus Giles (6-1, 205, 4.45), pictured at right, had been scheduled to take his official visit to Alabama this weekend. But like thousands of other unlucky Americans, Giles has caught the flu and was too sick to make the trip. He definitely plans to reschedule at a later date.

PHOTO CREDITS: Our trusty digital camera (that's only taken multiple thousands of pictures over the past four years) gave up the ghost as we were attempting to take a photo of David Brown. Dead; deceased; kaput. It's an ex-camera. Thanks go to Rodney Orr of TiderInsider.com who graciously shared his pictures with us. It's not the first time the two websites have cooperated with each other in regard to photos, but it was still a nice thing for Rodney to do.
