Walking wounded return

Several key Tide players who had been recently injured are apparently well and practicing for Oklahoma.

Three previously injured athletes, Antonio Carter, Cornelius Wortham and Triandos Luke were dressed out and practicing with the team on Tuesday.

Cornelius Wortham

Carter has been hampered by pain from off-season surgery to repair a stress fracture in his leg. Though he practiced some during fall camp, Carter spent most of last week's game preparation time on the exercise bike.

The senior wideout did not play versus South Florida.

Wortham partially dislocated his elbow during fall camp. Bama's leading returning tackler on defense, Wortham was forced to spend the past several weeks watching from the sidelines as his teammates prepared for the season.

At first Wortham wore a cumbersome brace to protect the joint. Then last week the brace came off. Tuesday he was again wearing a brace designed for game action, along with the rest of his Tide uniform.

The senior strongside linebacker dressed for the South Florida game but did not play.

Triandos Luke

Luke, Bama's leading receiver in Saturday's game, was forced to leave the field in the third quarter due to heat-related cramps. The senior wideout participated in two series after halftime, before heading to the lockerroom for fluids. He did not return.

Before leaving the game, Luke caught four passes for 45 yards, including a touchdown.

All three athletes are seniors and would be considered returning starters.

Alabama plays Oklahoma this Saturday. The Sooners are ranked No. 1 in the nation.
