Sunday’s Tide Practice Open For Fan Day

Nick Saban

Almost every college football coach says that the favorite part of his job is conducting practice. That said, Alabama Coach Nick Saban and his staff gets to that aspect of Alabama football Friday. Players report Thursday and the team begins work Friday.

Based on the last couple of years, it has seemed that Alabama football fans prefer getting autographs over watching practice. When the Crimson Tide conducts its Fan Day Sunday, it is likely there will be more lined up to have Saban (particularly) and players autograph posters, pictures, magazines, etc. than there will be watching the practice.

We earlier announced, erroneously, that Sunday’s practice would be closed. As usual, though, that practice in Bryant-Denny Stadium – which will not be a scrimmage and, in fact, will not bein full gear – will be open to the public.

The Crimson Tide will hold an open practice in Bryant-Denny Stadium from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday. Players and coaches will be available for autographs immediately after the practice on the field at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Fans may enter the stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. through gate 44 and occupy the lower bowl (sections AA-NN).

At the conclusion of practice, those wishing to participate in Fan Day will enter the field through gate 31 and exit via gate 44. Fans not wishing to view practice and who would like to start lining up early can do so beginning at 1:30 p.m. Those fans also enter through gate 31.

For security purposes, all items are subject to inspection as fans enter the stadium for both the practice and Fan Day activities.

Children attending can sign up for the Big Al's Kids Club and all fans can register for the Crimson Tide Rewards program outside the East side of the stadium at gate 44 beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Following practice, the Crimson Tide football team and coaching staff, including Saban, will be available for autographs on the field for 45 minutes. The gate to the field will be open once the autograph session has been set up. In an effort to facilitate as many autographs in the time allowed, fans will be limited to one item per person for autographs, and no posed photographs will be permitted.

Concessions vendors will be walking through the stadium with items for sale and the concession stands on the East side (field and mezzanine levels) will be open. Alabama merchandise will also be sold on Sunday and 5,000 autograph posters will be given away.

Parking for Fan Day can be found in the West ten Hoor area of campus. There are two parking decks as well as surface lots that are available. Parking for persons with disabilities is available on a first come, first served basis in the Communications card Lot and Wallace Wade Lots. No special accommodations will be made for recreational vehicles on campus. All RVs should park at the Northington Lot near University Mall. Fans can go to www.rolltide.com for updates and other pertinent information.

In case of inclement weather, the Fan Day portion of the afternoon would be moved into Coleman Coliseum.
