Alabama Well Represented On Watch Lists

Landon Collins

Over the past couple of weeks, many of the college football awards have released watch lists, those players who are being considered before the season begins as men who are expected to be candidates for those awards. This probably comes under the heading of “You have to start somewhere and this is a way to get some summer publicity.

There is nothing that says the winner will come from the watch list, although with some having quite a long list that includes returning stars, it is likely that most winners will have been on the pre-season watch lists. Generally, these awards will name semifinalists and/or finalists late in the year and most winners are announced at the College Football Awards Show in December.

Alabama is well represented on the awards watch lists. Eleven Crimson Tide players are mentioned for 12 awards with Bama players receiving a total of 26 nominations.
