A-Day Activities Are Announced
Although the explanation is hazy at this time, the announcement of A-Day activities on April 19 included that Alabama fans will be able to go onto the Bryant-Denny Stadium field following the spring game.
Alabama is having its fourth practice of the spring today and then The University has spring break. Practice will resume March 31.
The 15th and final practice of the spring will be the A-Day Game. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. CDT at Bryant-Denny Stadium and there will be no admission charge.
Bama Coach Nick Saban has made note in the past of the importance of a good crowd at A-Day. Part of the reason for that is that Alabama will have some of the nation's top high school prospects in attendance for the game, and a large and enthusiastic crowd at the spring game is one of the things that prospects cite as making a positive impression for them.
Alabama leads the nation in spring game attendance over the last seven years with a total of 594,851 fans and an average of 84,978 fans per game during that period. The largest A-Day crowd in school history came in 2011 (92,310). In Coach Saban's first year of 2007, the stadium was at full capacity prior to expansion (92,138).
One of the great traditions at the University of Alabama, which is always open to the public, is the annual Walk of Fame Ceremony at Deny Chimes. At approximately 11:15 a.m. on A-Day, head coach Nick Saban and 2013 captains A.J. McCarron, C.J. Mosley and Kevin Norwood will address the crowd. The captains will then leave prints of their hands and cleats in the concrete as they join a long list of Crimson Tide greats at Denny Chimes.
A "Fan Fest" will take place pregame and open at 9 a.m. outside the North endzone (corner of University and Wallace Wade). Fans will find inflatables and activities for kids and a 10-foot by 40-foot screen showing memorable Alabama games of the past and highlights. Two former Crimson Tide greats will be on hand to sign autographs.
A-Day posters featuring Coach Saban, members of this year's team and the 2014 schedule will be given away at the gates to the first 12,500 fans. Gates open at 11 a.m. Special commemorative A-Day programs will be available at a cost of $5 and will include a player poster, coupons from sponsors and a chance to win game tickets.
This year's halftime entertainment will feature Tony Hoard and the K-9 Crew. The performance, which has been featured on American's Got Talent, Good Morning America and Animal Planet, includes high-flying aerial tricks and Frisbee catching flips choreographed to upbeat music by Hoard and his group of rescued dogs.
There are also several experience and seating upgrades for purchase available at Rolltide.expapp.com, including South Field Suite, North and South Zone tickets, pregame locker room and pregame field access. The experience upgrades are available beginning at 8 a.m. on March 25 (while supplies last).
