Gymnasts Face Top 10 Showdown At LSU

The Alabama gymnastics team retained its No. 7 national ranking this week after beating the Arkansas Razorbacks by a score of 197.125-196.100 Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 15,075 in Coleman Coliseum.

This week's rankings also mean another top-10 showdown for the Alabama, pitting the Crimson Tide against No. 3 LSU on the road in Baton Rouge Friday at 7 p.m. CST.

Oklahoma held on to the top spot this week. The Sooners are followed by Florida and LSU while Utah and Michigan are tied for fourth, followed by Georgia and the Crimson Tide. Nebraska, UCLA and Arkansas round out the top 10.

Alabama is fourth on the vault and uneven bars, fifth on the balance beam, and 12th on the floor exercise this week.

Individually, senior Kim Jacob is ranked 14th on the all-around, 18th on the uneven bars and 18th on the balance beam. Senior Diandra Milliner is No. 1 on the floor exercise and No. 13 on the vault. Senior Sarah DeMeo is 16th and sophomore Lauren Beers is 25th on the vault while freshman Amanda Jetter is 22nd on the uneven bars.

After the Tide's trip to Baton Rouge this Friday, Alabama returns to Tuscaloosa on Feb. 7 to face off against No. 6 Georgia at 7:30 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum. Tickets for the Tide's home meets and the SEC and NCAA Championships are on sale through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, and online at RollTide.com.
