The attention on Tony Brown and his late commitment to Coach Nick Saban’s Alabama football team naturally centered on his football talents. He is a five-star cornerback prospect.
Bama also is strongly in the hunt for another five-star cornerback prospect, Marlon Humphrey, the son of former Crimson Tide great Bobby Humphrey.
In addition to their football prowess, both are outstanding track performers. And so, when Alabama Track and Field Coach Dan Waters announced three additions to his squad for the spring semester – and one of them was Tony Brown – it was obvious that the commitment Bama has made to that program is paying dividends. Humphrey is an Olympic hopeful who surely is taking the opportunities in track into consideration. The University recently completed a renovation of the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium, but it is coaching and athletes that make for success.
With the start of classes at The University Wednesday, Brown was announced with seven other football additions as having entered Alabama. There was also an announcement from track and field that included Brown as one of three new additions to the team. In addition to Brown, Waters announced that Dominique Kimpel and Jacopo Lahbi were new track additions enrolled for the spring semester and ready to begin competition. Bama’s indoor track and field season begins Jan. 18 at the Auburn Invitational.
Here is the track and field announcement on Tony Brown and the other additions:
