There was a time when Southeastern Conference college football teams didn't want to play Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles seemed to have a lot of players that SEC teams couldn't get qualified. Bama has not played USM since 2005. That will change next season as Bama has added the Golden Eagles to complete the 2014 football schedule.

Alabama will play Southern Miss in Tuscaloosa on September 13. The other 11 games had been previously announced.

The Crimson Tide of Coach Nick Saban will play seven home games, four road games -- all SEC contests -- and one neutral site game, meeting West Virginia in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta.

Home games in 2014 include Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Western Carolina and Auburn. Road games are Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee and LSU.

Bama will be playing in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game for the second consecutive year and fourth time overall. Alabama opened the 2008 and 2009 seasons in Atlanta with wins over Clemson and Virginia Tech. The Tide defeated Virginia Tech in the Georgia Dome to start this season.

The 2014 Alabama Football Schedule:

Aug. 30 West Virginia @ Atlanta

Sept. 6 Florida Atlantic

Sept. 13 Southern Miss

Sept. 20 Floida

Oct. 4 @ Ole Miss

Oct. 11 @ Arkansas

Oct. 18 Texas A&M

Oct. 25 @ Tennessee

Nov. 8 @ LSU

Nov. 15 Mississippi State
