"It was great!" he said. "The atmosphere, the fans, new facilities, everything was just great.
"The visit had a big upside."
The junior out of Pine Bluff (Ark.) High School took in a game in which Alabama used its tight ends quite well vertically, something the 6-foot-4, 247-pounder has shown in earning his Alabama offer this past summer at camp. In June, he called his effort at Nick Saban's camp one with a lion's mentality, and now the lion's place on his list of favorites may be occupied by the top team in the land.
"The visit in general was amazing. I loved it."
It blew away Gragg to the point that he nearly committed while in Tuscaloosa.
"I was very tempted," he said laughing. "But I just still wan to weigh my options."
There is no timetable for a commitment.
"Whenever God tells me where he wants me to go," he said. "That could be tomorrow or it could be February 6, 2015 (national signing day for the class)."
Gragg also mentioned the relationship the coaching staff has with its players at Alabama as another aspect that stands out.
"The players relationship with the coaches," he said. "And The strength coach (Scott Cochran) also gets the players hype."
The only other trip the elite tight end currently is thinking of making also involves Alabama, but he'll see the Crimson Tide on the road.
"I think I'm going to hit the Iron Bowl and that'll be about it," Gragg said.
