Incredible Tide Does It On Road
The streak includes two games this year as Alabama has yet to play at its home Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The streak includes both true road games and neutral site games, such as the season-opening win over Virginia Tech in Atlanta and bowl games.
The steak of away game wins dates back to a 24-21 loss to LSU on Nov. 6, 2010, and is the longest such streak in major college football.
With the win Alabama leads the series with Texas A&M by 4-2, including a 2-0 record at Kyle Field.
Alabama has now scored in 158 consecutive games, the longest such streak in Crimson Tide history. Bama has scored 42 or more points in four of its last six games.
Bama quarterback A.J. McCarron threw four touchdown passes, and for the first time in accomplishing that feat he connected with four different receivers – Kevin Norwood, DeAndrew White, Kenny Bell, and Jalston Fowler.
T.J. Yeldon has now rushed for at least one touchdown in seven consecutive games. He had the sixth 100-yard rushing game of his career as he picked up 149 yards on 25 carries Saturday.
Alabama is now 52-0 since the start of the 2008 season when the Crimson Tide rushes for at least 140 yards. Bama rushed for 234 yards against the Aggies.
The Tide is also 42-0 since 2008 when winning the turnover battle. Bama lost a fumble Saturday, but the Tide picked off two Texas A&M passes.
For the second consecutive game, junior safety Vinnie Sunseri returned an interception for an Alabama touchdown. After a 38-yard touchdown return in a 35-10 win over Virginia Tech, Sunseri picked off Johnny Manziel on a pass that was tipped by Bama nickel back Jarrick Williams, and returned it 73 yards for a touchdown.
Cornerback Cyrus Jones had the first interception of his career in the second quarter when he picked off a pass on a fade route at the Alabama goalline, perserving the Tide's lead.
Kenyan Drake, a sophomore who had been demoted prior to Alabama's op[ening game and did not even dress for the Virginia Tech game, was back for the Tide Saturday and was Bama's number three tailback behind T.J. Yeldon and Jalston Fowler.
Wide receiver Kenny Bell , who had planned to give up football at one point during fall practice, was back in a big way against Texas A&M as he took a quick pass from quarterback AJ McCarron and turned it into a 51-yard touchdown that gave Bama a 21-14 second quarter lead.
Alabama had a 28-14 lead at the half. Under Coach Nick Saban, the Tide is 64-3 when leading at intermission.
The game was nationally televised by CBS, making it the 54th time in the last 69 games Alabama football has been on national TV. Alabama's all-time television record is 205-127-4 (61.6 per cent).
Alabama had its "Cool Seats," the air conditioned benches that are used for post-practice cooldown in Tuscaloosa. The bleacherlike apparatus sends air conditioned air over the players legs, back, and neck. Bama also had six big "mister fans" on the sidelines. It may also have been an advantage for Bama to have been in all white (except for the crimson helmets). Temperature at kickoff was in the mid-90s with a heat index of 99.
Attendance for the game was 87,596, fourth largest crowd in Kyle Field history.
During halftime ceremonies, the No. 44 jersey worn by Texas A&M's first Heisman Trophy winner, John David Crow, was retired by the Aggies. Crow won the award in 1957 while playing for Coach Paul Bryant's A&M team. Crow was later an assistant coach at Alabama.
Gene Stallings, former Texas A&M star player and later head coach at both Texas A&M and at Alabama, served as honorary captain for both teams.
Captains for Alabama were linebacker C.J. Mosley, quarterback AJ McCarron, and defensive end Ed Stinson.
