BamaMag.com caught up with Michael Thompson at the Travelers Championship golf tournament.

Putting woes plagued Michael Thompson today in the first round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, (Conn.). The highest ranked Alabama golfer in the FedEx Cup standings at 27 finished with a plus 3 over par 73. A triple bogey on no. 7 along with two bogeys trumped the two birdies for the disappointing score.

The first round score equaled the second highest recorded by Thompson at the Travelers Championship achieved in 2008. ‘BAMA Magazine/BamaMag.com interviewed the promising golfer after Thursday’s first round. Thompson and fellow Alabama golfer Bud Cauley along with 13 others are tied for 122nd.
