J.C. Hassenauer enjoyed his initial trip to Alabama in the spring, checking out the campus for a junior day.
Then, there was some chatter of Nick Saban and company courting the three-star from Woodbury (Minn.) East Ridge High School hard with a need at the center position in the class of 2014.
The rising senior's chance to earn the offer came on Saturday, and he didn't disappoint. BamaMag.com learned that his day at the linemen camp was so dominant, that he was the first of a handful of players to actually learn of his offer.
Then it seemed like only a matter of when, and not if. Following suit just about 48 hours later, the No. 8 center prospect in America announced his decision.
"I'm excited to announce that I have committed to the University of Alabama!" he posted on Twitter Monday evening. "#ROLLTIDE"
Hassenauer is Alabama's second commitment on the offensive line, joining four-star Viane Talamaivao thus far. The Crimson Tide, already with a top-five recruiting class, now has commitments from prospects representing nine different states.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder is also an accomplished long-snapper.
BamaMag.com and FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com will have much more on this developing story.
