Alabama landed its quarterback for the 2014 cycle on Friday as David Cornwell announced his commitment to the back-to-back defending national champions.
The Norman (OK) North High signal-caller was verbally offered by Nick Saban and company in March, but he had to prove his worth at last week's camp. While throwing alongside several elite passers for multiple days, the four-star did just that, and it was enough to earn a solidified offer from the staff.
Cornwell took a visit to Virginia Tech just before returning to Tuscaloosa in order to make the commitment to Saban in person Friday afternoon. His decision was announced shortly after fellow four-star QB Jacob Park, who also impressed at camp, pulled the trigger to Georgia.
FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com considers Cornwell, an Elite 11 finalist, the No. 5 quarterback in the class of 2014.
