Bama Will Be Big In 2014 NFL Draft
The Alabama team that opens the 2013 season with the possibility of being the only team in major college football history to win three consecutive national championships will probably be the favorite for the crown. That's because Alabama Coach Nick Saban continues to recruit top prospects and then develop them into outstanding players. That does get the attention of "the next level." College Football News has taken the early stab at picking the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. It would be shocking if such a list didn't have its share of Alabama players. After all, Bama had nine players picked in this year's draft, including three in the first round. Alabama has had eight first round choices over the past three years. The early choice to be the number one draft choice is upcoming junior South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. That is everyone's pick. CFN picks Bama offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, also an upcoming junior, to be the number two selection, and also says that if he shows more consistency, he could move to the number one spot. The sixth choice is senior Crimson Tide linebacker C.J. Mosley, which CFN says "has the potential to be the best of the recent lot" of Alabama linebackers. At No. 25 the pick is Bama outside linebacker Adrian Hubbard, 6-5, 250, also an upcoming junior. He could be an end or outside linebacker in the NFL. Upcoming Tide junior HaHa Clinton-Dix is projected as the first safety selected, coming at at No. 26. The report said Clinton-Dix opened eyes with his spectacular play down the stretch of Alabama's 2012 national championship run. The third Alabama linebacker to look for in the draft is Trey DePriest, predicted for the 29th spot in next year's draft. DePriest, too, is an upcoming junior. The sixth Alabama player projected for next year's first round selection is upcoming senior offensive guard Anthony Steen, which CFN recognized as "the key run blocker" for 2012 Bama. What can be said about a prediction of six Alabama players being selected in the first round of next year's NFL draft? Perhaps, "What about A.J. McCarron?"
